Typical Internship Seasons
Fall internship dates typically start in September.
Spring internship dates typically start in January or February.
Summer internship dates typically start in June.
We suggest that the ideal period of internship is one that allows the intern to complete projects that are valuable to both the intern and the employer. It should also allow the intern to get into the rhythm of the job, creating a more realistic experience. Most universities cites 3-5 months as reasonable, with the intern completing 35-40 hours weekly.
When Should You Post an Internship Position?
Timing is important. you do need to allow enough time for recruiting, interviewing, and hiring your intern(s). You also want to land top candidates before they’re hired by another company. We recommend posting your internship a minimum of four months prior to the intern’s expected start date.

1. General versus Graduation internships
If your organization has a defined project or issue that requires alot of time and a cetain level of expertise, a general internship might be a best solution for your company. The focus is more on joining the work force to contribute hands on inputs that give value to your organization. A typical general internship has a work/educational assignment ratio of 60%-40% or 80%-20%. The intern will report his/her achievements and progress to the educational institution.
During the graduation internship the intern is focused on a specific case that he/she will give advice on. This could be a challenge. in your company that an intern can research. The research findings and the research methods used define the outcome of the thesis. The final results will be presented. The ratio is 10% work-90% research to complete the thesis successfully.
